An archaeology-focused half-day tour to one of the most important historical monuments in Santorini!

Located on the top of Mesa Vouno mountain in Santorini, at 360 meters, Ancient Thira is home to the remains of the second most important period of the island’s history. Ancient Thera was originally founded by the Spartans, who built their city here. However, the city later played an important role in the Ptolemaic war due to its strategic position and the natural fortification the surrounding cliffs offered. The archaeological site of Thera boasts a selection of ruins from the Hellenistic and Roman periods and offers a panoramic view of Kamari and Perissa. It’s an ideal place for both sightseeing and sunset-watching!

*Please note that for groups over 20 pax and because big buses cannot reach the Ancient Thira Site, there is a supplementary R/T transfer (from the bottom of the mountain to the top) with minibuses. This transfer is included in the rates of the tour.
